5 questions to ask about your sutures and needles

1. Is the suture long enough?

Consider the time it takes to open a new pack mid-closure and interrupt your flow because the suture you're working with is too short.

Now consider if your suture came in 90-centimeter lengths. That's longer than competitors' sutures. Longer strands mean fewer interruptions, allowing for more efficient procedures. You'll also waste less because there's no need to open a brand-new pack of sutures for just that little bit of extra length.

2. Are the needles sharp enough?

The sharpness of needles matters to your patient. How much force are you using to penetrate tissue? The sharp edges of Securos needles are constructed from a proprietary steel blend. Our needles require 12 to 20 percent less penetration force than leading market brands. This results in less tissue trauma, faster healing, and less postoperative pain.

3. Are the needles strong enough?

Can you trust the durability of your needles? During surgeries, you need to feel confident needles won't break when reshaping.

The 300 series stainless steel used in Securos' needles has greater tensile strength and higher ductility than the 400 series used by many competitors. Higher ductility means they will bend before breaking, allowing reshaping. Less penetration force also means less pressure to cause bending or breaking.

4. Are sutures strength-tested?

USP <881> is the industry standard for testing the tensile strength of surgical sutures. The Securos brand PGCL, Securocryl, outperforms both those USP requirements and the market leader brand. In fact, our sutures meet or exceed specifications for tensile strength.

Ensuring that your sutures remain intact throughout surgical interventions reduces risks and improves patient outcomes.

5. Is your suture made for veterinarians?

Many leading sutures on the animal health market were for human use first. By contrast, Securos has tailor-made its sutures for veterinary surgery. Our production processes comply with ISO 13485 standards, among others, ensuring superior quality across all offerings.

Our diverse product lines address unique animal health needs and comply with human quality standards.

With Securos, you can have confidence that you made the right choice for your patients.
